Resume Writing Tip # 1: Sell Your self! Most people do a shoddy job when it comes to writing a resume. In fact, they just consider it as one of those boring tasks they should do to get a job; and therefore, when it comes to writing their resume, the result is almost always a disaster. A short cut most people use is simply picking up a template and filling in the relevant sections with their details. This approach, of course, may seem easier and faster; but I would least recommend it. Why? It results in an incomplete resume without any touch of your personality in it, and that is absolutely not good. Most people who look for jobs, attend interviews and submit their resumes wonder why they are not hired. They often blame the employers, deeming them biased and corrupt; because they are so sure that they are more than qualified for the targeted job. They never stop to check that maybe the problem could be with them. One thing you must realize about the job-seeking task is that it is all about one thing: selling yourself. Yes, that is right. Therefore, your written resume is not just a written account of your experience, qualifications and capabilities. No. Your resume should be a well written and persuasive sales copy. One major thing I would advise you to do is write your resume yourself from start to end. You may infer from templates or examples you can find all over the net; but your resume should have your personal touch in it. Furthermore, you should attempt to sound just a little bit different from the boring mass of resumes employers are accustomed to seeing everyday. Yours should stand out. It should represent you for what you are really capable of doing. It should sell you. It should convince your employer that you are the right person for the job. Over the next two weeks or so, I am going to teach you how to write not only the perfect resume; but also the resume that will get you that job; a resume that will capture the attention of your employer; a resume that will sell you; a resume that will make you appear more qualified than all your other job seekers.
