Write a Book! Part 2: YOU Can Write a Book

In Write a Book! Part 1, all we did was build up the zest for writing a book, and show that it can be done. But that can only go so far in helping you to write a book.

The question which is clearly on your mind is: How can I write a book? Yes, that is the biggest question: how?

But there is still one question that we need to answer first: Can YOU write a book? Stop shaking your head before you hear the answer. It is very different from what you think.

It is a fact that reading a book is far much easier that writing one. But there is something both activities have in common: you've got to love the activity to complete it. People who love reading are more likely to finish off reading a book than those who don't. The same is true for writing a book. Those who love writing are more likely to write a book than those do not!

This brings us to the first rule: To write a book, fall in love with the idea of writing one! Better yet, fall in love with writing! Of course this works very well if you already love writing, so let's talk a bit about those who don't love writing but want to write a book.

If you are to write a book, and you don't love writing, this is going to be a humongous and painstaking task. But don't worry, if you really want to do it that bad, then you are going to do it.

You know the funny thing? Some people who write books are not writers per se. What I mean is that writing is not their major in life, and most of them dread the very idea of putting pen to paper. But when inspiration meets determination, nothing can stop them. I have seen and heard of these people, flaunting thier successful book and going on an on about how rich it has made them.

I am not here talking about ghost writing. Nay, I would not even encourage that at all. If you are to really call a book yours, it better have your personal touch to it. It better have a little of your sweat and blood in it. Only then can you really be proud of it. Only then can you really say it is yours.

So how do they do it? How do those without the seemingly inborn talent to write manage to write successful books? How, against all odds, do they manage to strike it rich?

Now here is the bit you have been waitig for, the ultimate secret. They write about something that is so big they cannot keep it to themselves. It is so big that they believe it is their duty to tell the world about it. Or better yet, they write about something that they love. They love it so much they just have to tell others about it.

Remember I said that to be sucessful at writing, you got to love the act? Well, that is not entirely true. We can alter that statement a bit: If you want to be successful at writing, you have to write about something that you love. Do you now see what this means? Anyone can write a book! We all love something, don't we?

Do you love cooking? You can write a recipe book in which you share your passion with the world. Do you love fixing cars? I would love you to write a book on how to fix cars! Do you like computer programming? Well, why not write a book on computer programming? Or perhaps you love gardening. Now why don't you go right ahead and write a book about gardening? How about a book on baby-sitting?

You see my friend, the possiblities are endless.

There are people who are generally shy; those who do not like talking. But ask them a question about something they know very well, or something they love and you'll see them open up, literally overflowing with words. In the same vein, there are a lot of people out there who are daunted by writing; but when they are asked to write about something they know very well or love, there are no two ways about it, they will do it. Their passion will drive them. It is unstoppable.

Don't sit telling yourself you can't write a book, or that you can't write at all. And if you are a writer, don't sit waiting for your inspiration to come. You already have the inspiration, in your heart. Find something you love (that should not be too hard) and get talking about it. It is that easy.

Have you found your love, your passion? Good. Let us write your book. Let us begin.

What was that? You still got a problem? You can't start? You don't know how to start? Stay tunned for Write a Book! Part 3. I am going to show you how to get started. And I am going to start answering the question of HOW to write a book.

Oh yeah, I can't wait! And I should stop jumping in the couch!
